Spirit Filled Spirituality: Part 3


Other aspects of the Holy Spirit’s role in our life include:

2. Walking in the Power of the Holy Spirit

for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:13
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:25

“the average professed Christian lives a life so worldly and careless that it is difficult to distinguish him from the unconverted man.” A. W. Tozer

3. The Spirit & Truth

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. Ephesians 4:15

4. The Spirit Baptizes, He identifies us deeper and deeper into our union with the Lord Jesus:   there are 7 New Testament references to Spirit Baptism

"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Matthew 3:11
I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." Mark 1:8
John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Luke 3:16
I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' John 1:33
For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." Acts 1:5
Then I remembered what the Lord had said: 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' Acts 11:16
For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 1 Corinthians 12:13

5. The Spirit Fills us… Inward & Outward

The INWARD Filling/Work of the Spirit (Grk: pleroo, pleres)

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. Luke 4:1-2
Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them Acts 6:3
But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Acts 7:55
He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord. Acts 11:24
And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52


The INWARD Work of the Spirit Produces A Growing State of Being, that includes: The Fruit of the Spirit, The Spirit Within, Purity, Maturity & Becoming like Jesus (see Romans 8:29)

An OUTWARD Filling/Work of the Spirit (Grk: pimplemi)

When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! Luke 1:41-42
His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: Luke 1:67
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:4
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people! Acts 4:8
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. Acts 4:31
Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord--Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here--has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit." Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus. At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. Acts 9:17-20
Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, "You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? Acts 13:9-10

An OUTWARD Filling/Work of the Spirit

A Temporary Experience, Empowers for Ministry & Service, The Gifts of the Spirit, The Spirit Upon us, Power, Manifestations & Acting

Because of this we move from a state of BEING (you must be born again) to a state of KNOWING (what God has done and who we are in Christ) to a state of DOING (living out our True Identity).
